Wat Chiang Man, nestled in the heart of Chiang Mai, is a testament to the city's rich history and spiritual heritage. The entrance is free, and the temple grounds are usually not crowded, making it a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. The complex comprises two wihans or temple buildings. The main wihan, the larger of the two, houses an altar surrounded by Buddha statues. The smaller, newer wihan is home to the crystal Buddha and the Phra Sila (marble Buddha). Both wihans are adorned with beautiful murals and paintings, and their exteriors are a pleasant sight, especially on the sides.
Other notable structures within the temple complex include the ubosot and the elephant chedi, the oldest constructions within the temple complex. The elephant chedi, known as Chedi Chang Lom, is particularly famous. Its square base supports a second level featuring 15 elephants emerging from it, carrying the chedi on their backs. This unique architectural feature offers great photo opportunities for visitors.
The temple's location within the city limits makes it easily accessible, and its proximity to local markets allows visitors to sample local fruits and other delicacies. The temple grounds are also a sight to behold, with beautifully painted murals and Buddha statues adorning the perimeter. The grounds are shaded and pleasant, making for a relaxing visit.

However, those who are more interested in partying than temple visits might prefer to visit Wat Phra Singh instead.
