Bar@494, nestled in the iconic Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, is a haven for those seeking a classic bar experience. This is not a place for fleeting encounters, but rather a sanctuary for connoisseurs of fine spirits and delectable food. The bar boasts an impressive selection of fine whiskeys and an excellent array of gins sourced from Colombia to Germany to Italy. The wine selection is so vast that it would take a true oenophile to count them all.The culinary offerings at Bar@494 are equally impressive. Unlike many bars in Bangkok where food is an afterthought, here it is a highlight. The menu features sublime Neopolitan pizzas, Spanish omelettes, and first-class cheese platters. For those who arrive before 7:30 pm, there's the added bonus of being able to order Asian dishes from their specialty noodle restaurant, You&Mee. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes including dumplings, Thai chicken wings, and papaya salads, all expertly prepared.
The bar also offers a very reasonably priced wine buffet. While some may shy away from such an offer due to past experiences, for the more moderate sorts, it's an opportunity to sample a variety of wines without breaking the bank.
One of the unique aspects of Bar@494 is its ambiance. Unlike many bars where the noise level can make conversation difficult, here you can actually hear what the person across from you is saying. This makes it an ideal place to meet up with friends or go on a date.
The staff at Bar@494 are known for their excellent service. Khun May and Khun Kanit, in particular, are often singled out for their helpfulness. They are known to remember the preferences of regular patrons, adding a personal touch to the service. The team, led by Mint, is also praised for their great service.
However, it's not all praise for Bar@494. Some patrons have reported less than satisfactory experiences with the staff. One long-time patron reported a very bad experience with the staff and was disappointed with the lack of acknowledgement and apology from the management.
Despite this, many patrons continue to frequent Bar@494 for its amazing wine deals. The wine buffet, in particular, is a popular choice. The manager, Maaike, is known to recommend it to patrons. The variety of wines on offer, coupled with the complementary snacks, make it a hit among patrons.
Bar@494 is also a popular choice for after-work drinks and girls' night out. The friendly staff, good environment, and great value on wines and snacks make it a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
