About Blue Elephant Cooking School

The Blue Elephant is a renowned culinary institution, known for its Thai cuisine and cooking classes. The chefs at Blue Elephant are globally recognized as the epitome of Thai culinary expertise. They offer a unique opportunity to learn the art of Thai cooking, using only the finest ingredients. A typical day at the Blue Elephant begins with a visit to the morning market, where students, guided by an instructor, learn to select and buy Thai ingredients for their personal cooking. The cooking class is followed by a meal in the delightful restaurant, where students can sample their own cooking and order additional Thai dishes if they wish. The experience is designed to be fun and easy, catering to all levels of cooking experience.

One couple shared their enjoyable and informative morning class experience at the Blue Elephant. The chef took them on a tour of the market, educating them about the fresh ingredients they were about to use. The school itself was described as beautiful, equipped with top-of-the-line equipment and instruction. The couple felt confident in their ability to recreate the dishes at home, thanks to the gentle guidance provided throughout the class. They also appreciated the chef's willingness to adjust the spice level of the dishes to their preference. The experience concluded with a delicious sit-down lunch, making it a highly recommended activity for Thai food lovers.

However, not all experiences at the Blue Elephant have been positive. One individual, who had previously attended other cooking classes in Phuket, found the Blue Elephant's class disappointing. They felt that the class lacked proper introduction and explanation of the dishes and ingredients. They also noted that the instructor's English was not fluent, making communication difficult. Furthermore, they were disappointed that most of the ingredients were pre-cooked and that the food prepared during the class was served cold at the end. Despite these criticisms, they acknowledged the beauty of the building and the opportunity to make curry from scratch.

The Blue Elephant is not just a cooking school, but also a restaurant offering a blissful dining experience. One diner praised the setting, the service, and the delicious food. They found the experience surprisingly delightful and expressed their intention to return.

However, another visitor, who had previously enjoyed the Blue Elephant's Bangkok restaurant and cooking classes, found the Phuket cooking class disappointing. They felt that the class structure was ineffective, with little classroom instruction and too much reliance on the chef's commands. They also felt that the chef provided little value-add to the course and did not adequately explain the ingredients. They were disappointed that they did not prepare more of the ingredients themselves, especially for the green curry. They also felt that the class was understaffed and ended abruptly, with the chef quickly handing out certificates and disappearing. Despite their previous positive experiences with Blue Elephant, they found this class to be poor value for money.

On the other hand, another visitor had an amazing half-day experience with Chef Molly at Blue Elephant Phuket. They appreciated the sophisticated yet simple dishes they learned to cook, including glass noodles sea food salad, yellow curry, chicken satay, deep-fry fish with tamarind sauce, and banana pudding. They highly recommended the cooking classes to anyone visiting Phuket.

The Blue Elephant also received praise for its food and setting. One diner described the food as awesome and the setting and location as superb. They noted that the tables were set better than most high-end restaurants. However, they felt that the drink prices were steep.

Another diner described their dining experience at the Blue Elephant in Phuket Town as a serious, traditional Thai culinary journey. They enjoyed the complimentary smoothie samples, the amuse bouche, the set meals, and the fresh natural juices. However, they noted that the prices were high. Despite the cost, they found the experience to be a feast for the senses.

In conclusion, the Blue Elephant offers a unique culinary experience, whether you're looking to learn Thai cooking or simply enjoy a delicious meal. While some visitors have had less than satisfactory experiences, many others have found the cooking classes and dining experiences to be enjoyable and worthwhile.
