About Charlie Beach
The beach is a popular destination, often bustling with people. The lack of shade can be a bit of a challenge, but the beach offers chairs and umbrellas for those who need them. However, be prepared to make a purchase from the locals or the nearby restaurants if you wish to use these amenities. The beach is nestled in a bay, which results in less intense waves, making it a pleasant spot for a relaxing dip.Despite its beauty, the beach has a less appealing side. Just a few steps behind the sandy shores, there lies a large garbage dump. The locals do their best to keep the beach clean, collecting most of the trash, but unfortunately, the waste is then discarded into the nearby jungle. This juxtaposition of natural beauty and human waste can be quite jarring.
However, the beach still has its charms. The sand is clean and the water is clear, making it a great spot for people of all ages. The atmosphere is calm, without rowdy crowds, and there are two charming little bars that serve food. This makes it a great spot for both couples and families.
The beach could be a stunning display of natural beauty, but it is unfortunately marred by plastic and washed-up rubbish. There's an old hotel nearby that was partially torn down for building on a national park, which adds a melancholic touch to the place. Despite this, it's still worth a visit. The local people are wonderful and there's a hilltop restaurant along the way that offers a great dining experience.
The beach is also a great spot to watch the sunset. There are a couple of bars and restaurants on the cliffs, and the beach offers free beds and umbrellas. The food served at these establishments is great, and the beach is usually not too crowded. The path to the beach takes you through a resort that was abandoned after the government declared it a national park, adding a touch of intrigue to the journey.
If you find yourself in Ko Muk, make sure to follow the trail west towards Charlie Beach. The beach is a couple of kilometers from the city center, and you can take a tuk-tuk if you don't feel like walking. The beach is gentle with little or no surf, making it great for swimming. It's wide, almost 70 meters at low tide, and the area is beautiful. Despite some tourism, it's not heavily crowded, and there are some resorts, bars, and restaurants along the road for your convenience.
