About Chedi Phutthakhaya

The stupa is a sight to behold, both in its size and beauty. Visitors often spend about an hour exploring the temple, taking in the grandeur of the stupa, which is currently under restoration. The ground level is equally impressive, offering a different perspective of the temple's magnificence.

One of the unique features of this temple is the Buddha in motion. This is not a common sight and presents a wonderful opportunity for a memorable photograph. The Buddha is located outside the main building. An interesting observation is the sight of women working on the reconstruction of the floor near the temple's entrance, a testament to the gender equality in Thailand.

The temple's chedi is a massive structure that overlooks a serene lake. It bears a resemblance to Bodh Gaya in India, despite not being as old. Visitors can ascend the different levels of the chedi, each offering a sense of peace and tranquility. Reaching the temple requires a car, bike, or bike taxi. The area is also home to numerous market stalls selling Burmese souvenirs.

The temple is a relaxing place, housing various artifacts of Buddha. After ascending the steps and making offerings, visitors are encouraged to ring the bells three times. These bells vary in size, from very large to small. Towards the back of the temple, visitors are treated to a spectacular view of the lake. This is the same temple visible from the shore during the sunken lake temple tour.

The Wat is a beautiful example of Burmese architecture, differing from the typical Thai style. The interior renovation of the temple is complete, but work on the exterior is still ongoing. The golden pyramid-shaped temple is adorned with small Buddha statues, creating a visually stunning structure.

The view of the Chedi is awe-inspiring from every corner of the area, both during the day and at night. The golden glow of the temple creates a peaceful and serene atmosphere, making it a must-visit location.

Despite its beauty, the temple does require some maintenance. The main shrine, a replica of Bodhgaya, is impressive, but other parts of the temple appear run down. Dust and debris are noticeable in some areas, indicating a need for funds to improve the condition. However, the temple remains a beautiful sight, with multiple shops outside selling craft goods and local specialties.
