About Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures
The adventure begins with a minivan ride to Crazy Horse, a popular climbing spot in the region. The minivan is private, equipped with air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable journey. The rental equipment provided is of good quality and nearly new, ensuring safety and reliability. However, communication via email can be a bit complicated and the services can be a bit pricey. The pricing for a guide is based on the number of people, which can be a bit strange and expensive for larger groups. Getting a taxi back to downtown Chiang Mai from Crazy Horse can also be a bit of a challenge.The climbing area is a 30-minute drive northwest of the city, part of a ridge of hills overlooking a rural valley. The location is serene and often not crowded, providing a peaceful climbing experience. There are scores of climbs to choose from, catering to a wide spectrum of difficulty levels. The guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and ensure safety throughout the day. The day is usually divided into a morning climbing session, a lunch break, and an afternoon session, with the guides moving the group to keep out of the sun. The day ends with a thrilling 55m rappel into a cave.
The rock climbing experience is beginner-friendly and also suitable for more advanced climbers. The safety standards are rigorous and the guides are friendly, making it a great way to view the Chiang Mai forests from above. However, the rental policies can be a bit absurd, requiring a passport or a hefty deposit for renting anything. The staff at the rental shop may not always be knowledgeable about climbing, which can lead to some safety concerns.
Despite these concerns, the 3-day fundamentals class with CMRCA comes highly recommended. The instructors are professional, educational, friendly, and patient. They always ensure safety and provide encouragement when needed. The climbing site, Crazy Horse Buttress, is beautiful and provides an amazing view from the top. The company is well-organized, with highly trained staff, good equipment, transportation, and even a tasty lunch.
The Chiang Mai rock climbing experience is fantastic, with small groups and multiple instructors ensuring personalized attention. The instructors are friendly, educational, and ensure safety at all times. The climbing site is beautiful and challenging, providing a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. The day ends with a rappel into a cave, adding to the thrill of the experience.
The rock climbing experience at Crazy Horse is often considered the best day in Thailand by many. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the experience memorable. The climbing experience at Crazy Horse is definitely something to look forward to when in town.
