About Chiang Mai Trekking With Maewin and Family
The three-day trek in the stunning jungles of Thailand is an experience that leaves a lasting impression on every traveler. Guided by the knowledgeable Wat Kandy and He on the first day, the journey is filled with breathtaking views of the lush greenery. The first night is spent on Wat's property, where he engages the group with fun games and enlightening conversations about the history of the Karen people and their lifestyle in the area. The second day of the trek is led by Kandy, who is known for her warm and friendly nature. She gifts the travelers with rings made out of bamboo and introduces them to the diverse fauna of the jungle. The final day of the trek is guided by Mr. Tiger and Tee, who lead the group to some beautiful waterfalls before heading back to Chiang Mai. The trail has some steep sections, but nothing that an adventurous spirit can't conquer.
The trek is not just about the journey, but also about the people you meet along the way. The local families are incredibly welcoming and participate in the experience, making it even more memorable. The day ends with a heartwarming performance by the tour guide's son and uncle, singing by the fire and playing a local instrument. The experience is worth every penny, leaving travelers with a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.
For those staying near Chiang Mai, the two-day and one-night trek is a must-do. The trek includes an elephant caring/wellness experience where travelers get to feed and wash the elephants. The Maewin team is known for their caring and patient nature, both with the elephants and the group. The trek also includes a relaxing bamboo rafting journey on the river. The jungle trek is not too difficult and leads to a base camp with an open dorm offering a mesmerizing view of the jungle and the mountains.
The cooking team at the base camp prepares a delicious dinner, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. The evening is spent around the fire, interacting with people from all over the world and tasting rice whiskey with Tamarind and salt. The next day's trek lasts about six hours with breaks, during which travelers get to see baby cobra snakes, visit local villages, meet piglets, and swim under waterfalls. The guides, Mek and Chai, are very knowledgeable about the wildlife and the edible fruits and plants in the jungle.
Another two-day trekking experience is led by Lucky, who guides the group through the jungle, pointing out fruits and insects along the way. His excellent English and friendly nature make the trek enjoyable. He welcomes the group into his self-made bungalow and shares his life in nature and his passion for snakes.
The hike is a great way to explore the incredible nature of Thailand. Although it is described as a moderate hike, it can be quite challenging with steep hills to climb and narrow paths to navigate. The hike is long, covering a distance of 16-18km. However, the effort is worth it as the scenery is gorgeous and the guide, Chai, is very knowledgeable and approachable. The tour also includes visits to a couple of Karen villages and waterfalls.
Another unforgettable experience is the two-day trek through the jungle and the Karen villages. The guide, Come, is known for his caring nature and his ability to introduce the group to the wonders of the jungle.
The three-day hike offers beautiful scenery and short walks. Although the hike is not as challenging as promised, the experience is still enjoyable. The guide is good and the company is committed to improving the experience for future travelers. The journey through the beautiful landscapes of Thailand is an experience that every traveler should have.
