About Children's Discovery Museum
The Children's Discovery Museum is a delightful destination for families, especially those with young children. It boasts an outdoor water park and several outdoor play areas, including a giant sandbox and a climbing gym. Parents are advised to pack swim suits for their children if they plan to get wet. The museum also caters to different age groups with a play area for toddlers aged 1-2 and an indoor play area for kids aged 3-6. The latter is designed to resemble a town, allowing children to explore different professions in a fun and engaging way.Visitors to the museum in early January 2023 reported a pleasant experience despite some restrictions. Entry required masks and passports, but no Covid tests. Some sections of the museum were only briefly open, apparently on a schedule, for 40 minutes at a time before being closed for cleaning. Despite this, there were still plenty of activities to entertain the children, including a fabulous outdoor playground. The museum's free entry was also appreciated, making it a good reward for children after a busy week.
The museum's entry is free, but it requires a photo identity, so visitors must carry a passport. A rapid Covid test is also required at the entrance. The museum organizes all activities by time, and it can be challenging to participate in all activities in one day. The schedule may need to be revised to provide more play time for children. All activities close at the same time for cleaning, but children generally enjoy the museum.
However, not all experiences at the museum have been positive. Some visitors have reported disappointment with their visit. Upon arrival, they found many staff members congregated at the front desk, which felt awkward. After a passport check and receiving wristbands, they ventured through the museum. Unfortunately, they found many interactive parts not working and most of the staff uninterested in interacting with visitors. The outdoor water play park and the outdoor play area were fun for the children, but they quickly became bored and agitated when they were constantly told they couldn't do or touch things.
Some visitors felt that the museum was not child-friendly, with many exhibits off-limits and no-entry points. They reported that the staff were incredibly rude, not only to the children but also to the adults, especially foreigners. This left a negative impression on them, and they felt that the museum did not encourage children to have fun.
Others felt that the museum did not allow children to be children. They reported that the museum had strict rules that were impossible for children to follow and that the staff were unfriendly and rude. They felt that being a child was not accepted at the museum, making it an unsuitable place for families.
Some visitors reported that most of the activities were not available due to renovation. The dinosaur section was completely closed, and the science stations were more closed than open. The playground was directed by staff with microphones telling the children what they were not allowed to do. The water playground could have been great if the guards did not use the microphones and if the water was not shut down for the 2-hour lunch break. Visitors with a group of 8-year-olds reported that most of them were disappointed.
In conclusion, while the Children's Discovery Museum has the potential to be a great place for children to learn and have fun, it seems that it currently falls short of this potential. The museum could benefit from more organization, better staff interaction, and a more child-friendly approach. Despite these shortcomings, the museum's free entry and variety of activities still make it a worthwhile visit for families.
