About Elephant Nature Park
The journey begins with an early morning pick-up at 8am, followed by a short drive to the office. The journey to the park is filled with anticipation, heightened by an introductory video about the park that is both informative and interesting. Upon arrival, visitors are immediately immersed in the experience, feeding two elephants with a bucket of fruits. This is a wonderful opportunity to take pictures and enjoy the company of these majestic creatures. The guide, Andy, is very knowledgeable about the park and its elephants, leading the group on an hour-long walk through the park grounds. There are several opportunities to take pictures and touch the elephants at multiple stops along the way.The park is home to over 30 elephants, all of which have been orphaned or have some sort of disability or hardship. The staff is very informed and passionate about their work, ensuring that the elephants are well cared for. The park is ethical and committed to educating visitors about the elephants and their needs.
The day is punctuated by a delicious vegetarian buffet lunch, offering a wide variety of dishes, fruits, salads, noodles, fried foods, coffee, and tea. After lunch, visitors have the opportunity to browse the souvenir store, learn more about the park and the history of each elephant, and enjoy the company of the many dogs and cats that roam the park. The day concludes with a final walk around the park, offering one last chance to interact with the elephants.
The Karen Retirement and Karen Serenity projects are other highlights of the trip. These projects offer visitors the chance to feed, walk, and bathe with the elephants. The guides at these projects are extremely kind and friendly, providing an overview of the day and sharing their knowledge about the elephants. The projects are home to several elephants, including a mother elephant and her 3-month-old baby girl, a 7-year-old male elephant, and a pregnant nanny elephant.
The Kerem Elephant Experience is another must-visit destination. Located 1 1/2 hours south of Chiang Mai, up into the jungle, this experience offers visitors the chance to spend a day with four well-cared-for elephants and their attentive keepers. The day is filled with feeding, walking, and bathing the elephants, and observing their interactions with each other.
The Sunshine For Elephants single day tour is another unforgettable experience. The tour begins with a pick-up from the hotel in Chiang Mai and includes feeding and walking with the elephants, as well as bathing them. The sanctuary is home to three elephants, one of which is blind. The day concludes with a delicious vegetarian Thai lunch perched high above the treetops.
The Elephant Nature Park is a sanctuary for about 80 elephants, as well as hundreds of cats and dogs. Visitors can feed the elephants, learn about their stories, and observe them in their natural habitat. The park also offers luxurious accommodations, delicious vegetarian meals, and a variety of activities, including a hill tribal dance and a massage.
While the park is primarily focused on the welfare of the elephants, it also offers a unique experience for visitors. The opportunity to be surrounded by animals like water buffalos and elephants is truly unforgettable. However, some visitors may find the experience lacking in activities. Despite this, the park is highly recommended for its commitment to the care and protection of the elephants.
