About Elephant Village Sanctuary

The hill tribe village, home to a family-owned elephant sanctuary, offers a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures. The village, nestled amidst lush greenery, has been caring for elephants for four generations, making it a significant part of the local culture. The sanctuary is a testament to the villagers' love for these gentle giants, with the elephants being treated with utmost respect and care.

However, some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with their experience. They found the place to be somewhat abandoned and lacking in guidance. Upon arrival, they were left to find their way to the main house without any assistance. The lack of information about the place, the elephants, and the day's itinerary left them feeling lost and confused. The interaction with the elephants felt rushed and lacked the expected bond between the carers and the elephants. Despite the sanctuary's claim of treating the elephants well, some visitors felt that the elephants were not as happy as they should be.

The food provided during the tour also left much to be desired. The lunch, which was supposed to be a variety of vegetables, turned out to be a single portion of rice and eggs, which was not suitable for vegan visitors. The tour, advertised as a full-day experience, lasted only four hours, leaving some visitors feeling short-changed.

On the other hand, some visitors had a wonderful time at the sanctuary. They found the elephants to be happy and well-cared for, with no chains or riding involved. The opportunity to feed the elephants fruits and help them bathe in the river was a highlight for many. The elephants' affection for their carers was evident, making the experience all the more special. The transportation provided to and from the sanctuary was excellent, and the lunch was deemed satisfactory by some.

The sanctuary also offers a two-day, one-night experience, which has been highly praised by solo female travelers. They found the experience to be authentic and special, with the host family making them feel safe and at home. The opportunity to disconnect and immerse oneself in nature was a major draw for these visitors.

Despite the mixed experiences, it is clear that the sanctuary is a place of love and care for the elephants. The animals are given ample time to eat, sleep, and bathe, with their well-being being the top priority. The sanctuary's owners, Ken and his family, are dedicated to providing the elephants with a happy and comfortable life. They also strive to make their visitors feel at home, serving delicious vegetarian meals and sharing stories about life in the village.

However, the sanctuary could benefit from some improvements. Clearer communication and better organization could enhance the visitor experience. The long and uncomfortable car rides to the sanctuary were a common complaint among visitors. The lack of understanding about the elephants and their care was another issue. Some visitors felt that the elephants were made to perform for tourists, which detracted from the experience.

In conclusion, the hill tribe village and its elephant sanctuary offer a unique and potentially rewarding experience. However, potential visitors are advised to do their research and set their expectations accordingly. Despite its shortcomings, the sanctuary remains a testament to the villagers' love for elephants and their commitment to their well-being.
