Koh Mook, also known as Farang Beach or Charlie Beach, is a destination that offers a unique blend of stunning natural beauty and intriguing history. The island is a sight to behold, with its breathtaking scenery and tranquil beaches. However, it's not without its challenges. The island has been described as a floating dumpster due to the amount of trash that has accumulated over time. This is particularly noticeable on the beach, which, despite its potential, is often littered with waste.

The island's state of disrepair extends beyond the beach. Many places on the island are run down and no longer open, possibly due to the impact of the pandemic. Despite these issues, there is hope that the island will be restored to its former glory.

Visiting Koh Mook during the low season can be an eerie experience. The beach and surrounding area are often deserted, resembling a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie. One of the most notable features is the abandoned resort that used to be Charlie Resort. This resort was forced to close after it was discovered to be built on a national park. The half-demolished, overgrown buildings add to the island's ghost town feel.

Despite these challenges, the beach itself has its charms. The white sand and soft waves create a peaceful atmosphere, although the water is not particularly clear. Unfortunately, litter often builds up on the beach, likely brought in by the tide. There are no vendors, bars, or restaurants open during the low season, and the beach is devoid of sun loungers. For those who prefer a quieter beach experience, Farang Beach is a great option. This beach is clean and often has very few people, making it a peaceful retreat. However, it's worth noting that the beach lacks a variety of dining options and is not very walkable. The only access is a narrow dirt road that is shared by all modes of transportation.

Despite the trash and lack of amenities, many consider Farang Beach to be the best of the three main beaches on the island. The beach is also safer during the high season, as the monsoon season can bring rough and unpredictable waves.
