About Fort of Ka-Tham

The remnants of the old city walls are a sight worth seeing, especially if one is already exploring the perimeter of the old city. It's a testament to the city's rich history, a tangible piece of the past that has managed to survive the test of time. It's a bit of a shame that there aren't more remnants like this one, but the existing piece still offers a glimpse into the city's bygone era.

While it may not be a destination that warrants a special trip across the city, it's definitely worth a stop if one is already in the vicinity. The ruins are part of an old fort that was once part of the city wall. Surrounded by a moat, it gives visitors a sense of what the city might have looked like when the wall was still standing in its full glory. It's an interesting sight to stumble upon, even if one is simply on their way to a convenience store. For those who wish to learn more about it, a quick search on the internet will provide further information.

The ruins of Katam Corner, located on the southeast corner of the Old Town, are a nice sight, albeit not particularly extraordinary. However, they can be combined with a visit to the Buak Hard Public Park, located at the other end of the southern moat. After a visit to the park, one can return to see the Chiang Mai Gate and finally have dinner at the Bumrung Buri Market, which is conveniently located right next to the Chiang Mai Gate, on the south end of the Old Town, next to the moat. This combination of sights and experiences makes for a pleasant afternoon or evening stroll, culminating in a delicious and affordable meal at the Bumrung Buri Market.

A particularly nice part of the old wall of Chiang Mai is the area where beautiful flowers grow along the side of the moat next to the old fort. There's also a fountain in this area, although it's unclear whether it operates continuously. The area is shaded by plenty of trees, making it a comfortable spot for visitors. It's a free attraction that doesn't require much time to appreciate - a quick 5 to 15 minutes is enough to take some photos and soak in the atmosphere.

The ruins at the southeast corner of the old town, visible from inside on Mun Mueang Road, are located inside the moat. This location adds to the historical charm of the area, making it a worthwhile stop for those exploring the old town.
