About Giant Catfish Farm

The Catfish Farm is a unique destination that offers a different kind of experience. Despite its name, it's not exactly a traditional catfish farm. The place is home to a single large catfish, which is the main attraction. However, the farm's exhibitions are outdated and in poor condition, suggesting that the owners are trying to maximize profits with the existing facilities. The animals are kept in less than ideal conditions, which is a point of concern for many visitors. The farm has a lot of potential, but it seems to have been neglected by the owners.

The farm is an interesting place to visit if you have some free time. It has an odd, somewhat spooky atmosphere due to its rundown state. Despite this, it could be transformed into a beautiful area with a bit of effort. The entrance fee is 50 Baht, which is quite reasonable. The highlight of the visit for many is the baby monkey, which is very friendly and has been adopted by the owner after its mother passed away. The crocodile enclosure, however, is quite small and the fish area is just okay. The entire park could benefit from a thorough cleanup as there is rubbish scattered everywhere.

The farm is set in a jungle and there are fish, but the overall condition of the place is quite poor. The trails with bridges are in such a state that they seem like they might collapse at any moment. The sight of a crocodile in a very small concrete enclosure and several turtles in a similar habitat is quite distressing. The place could be wonderful if the welfare of the animals was prioritized and the area was kept clean and free of trash.

Despite its shortcomings, the farm is worth a visit for just 50 Baht. It might seem a bit disorganized in parts, but that could be part of its charm. Visitors can spend about an hour exploring the place, crossing many bridges, and seeing a variety of animals. There are many catfish, including a particularly large one that tends to surprise visitors. The state of the crocodile is a cause for concern, but the sight of elephants next door is quite exciting. There's also a pig that lies across the path, providing a bit of a thrill for visitors as they try to leave. The entrance fee includes a bag of food for the fish, adding to the overall enjoyment of the visit.

The farm offers an authentic jungle experience. The hosts are very welcoming and it's clear that they care for the animals, including a baby monkey named Rose. Visitors have the opportunity to see and feed a variety of fish, meet a pig, turtles, and a crocodile. There's also a chance to see an elephant from a nearby sanctuary and even go swimming in the river.

The Giant Catfish Farm is an authentic Thai jungle experience. It's located near a beautiful, clear river with rapids. Visitors can watch a crocodile feeding, see turtles and tortoises racing each other, feed a massive catfish, and interact with a potbelly pig and a little monkey named Rose. The owners, the Matmalais, are animal advocates and land conservationists. They have developed the jungle garden with great love and respect for the land and its inhabitants. They are more than happy to guide visitors around or let them explore on their own. Despite some negative comments about the treatment of the animals, the Matmalais insist that they only cage the monkeys occasionally to protect them from other jungle animals. If you're looking for a truly authentic Thai jungle experience, the Giant Catfish Farm is worth a visit. However, if you prefer pristine, Westernized zoos or parks, this might not be the place for you.
