About Hat Wanakon National Park

Wannakorn beach is a fantastic destination for a weekend getaway. The area is known for its large family bungalows, where visitors can spend a few days enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent, making it a great place to unwind and relax.

The beach itself is a sight to behold. It's beautiful and often completely empty, giving visitors the feeling of having their own private beach. However, it's worth noting that there is a two-tier pricing system for locals and foreigners. Despite this, the beauty of the beach makes it worth a visit.

Located about an hour and a half south of Hua Hin, the National Park (NP) is another must-visit. The entrance fee is reasonable, and the park is closed on Wednesdays. The park's restaurant offers great value Thai meals, and the cottages are comfortable, complete with fresh bedding, air conditioning, and sea views. The park also has a well-organised bird watching track, although snorkelling trips are not currently available. The beach is safe for swimming, making it a great spot for families.

The park also offers overnight stays in one-bedroom studio units, which are clean and perfectly situated under the Casuarina trees and beachside. Larger two and three-bedroom bungalows are also available, as well as beachside camping. The facilities are very good, and the staff at the Visitors Centre are helpful. The beach is wonderful, stretching over six or seven kilometres, and the water quality is clean and appealing.

For those who prefer a more secluded experience, the beaches near Huay Yang are a great option. These beaches are often completely empty, giving visitors the chance to have the whole park to themselves. The park entrance fee is waived for those who walk in along the beach. This makes it a great destination for summer visits.

The area is also home to a protected beach and coastal forest, which offers offshore snorkelling. Visitors can enjoy lunch and relax by the untouched beach, surrounded by pine trees. The facilities are modern and clean, and the area is home to several bird species, including red wattled lapwings and Indian Rollers. It's a peaceful, green place to relax and take a break from a journey.

For those who enjoy camping and snorkelling, the beach offers a long stretch of sand similar to other areas in the region. However, this beach is safe for swimming and has a snorkelling spot, although there is a fee for using the National Park's boat. The park also offers accommodation at a reasonable price, and camping is available. There is a shop for food, but visitors looking for a variety of food options may need to prepare from outside. The park does have an entrance fee. For those looking for a more budget-friendly beach and accommodation option, Ban Krut beach is a great alternative.
