About Idaytrip

The excursion begins with a journey from Bangkok, a drive that lasts approximately 2.5 hours. The journey, though long, is worth every minute as it leads to an elephant sanctuary nestled in the mountains. The sanctuary is home to seven elephants, each one cared for with love and respect. The workers at the sanctuary share a deep bond with these gentle giants, treating them with kindness and gentleness. The elephants are not forced to do anything against their will, they are free to roam and interact as they please. This sanctuary is a testament to the love and respect for these majestic creatures, a stark contrast to the many tourist parks that exploit them.

Upon arrival, visitors are briefed about the day's activities. The first task is to prepare lunch for the elephants, a task that involves cutting long stalks of sugar cane into smaller chunks. Once the food is prepared, visitors get the chance to feed the elephants, an experience that is both unique and heartwarming. The elephants, both the adults and the babies, interact with the visitors, creating a bond that is truly special.

After feeding the elephants, visitors embark on a trek through the park, a journey that lasts between one to two hours. The trek offers a chance to explore the beautiful surroundings and immerse oneself in the tranquility of nature. Following the trek, visitors return to the center for a delicious lunch, a spread of Thai staples that are both plentiful and tasty.

The afternoon is filled with more elephant interactions. Visitors take the elephants to a mud hole, where they get to play in the mud with these gentle creatures. This is followed by a trip to the Kwai river, where visitors get the chance to swim and play with the elephants. The day ends with a snack for the elephants and a heartfelt goodbye.

The excursion also includes a visit to the Thai-Burma (Death Railway) and the Bridge on the River Kwai. These historical sites offer a humbling experience, a reminder of the thousands of Allied prisoners of war and forced laborers who perished during its construction. The Bridge on the River Kwai, though touristy, offers a chance to capture some memorable photos. The trip also includes a visit to Hellfire Pass, a less touristy but equally significant site.

The excursion is not just about interacting with elephants, it also includes a short hike and a swim in a pool under a waterfall. The hike leads to a quaint waterfall, a perfect spot for a refreshing swim. The waterfall is usually sparsely populated, offering a peaceful and serene environment for visitors to enjoy.

The day ends with a drive back to Bangkok, a journey that offers a chance to reflect on the day's experiences. The van is clean and comfortable, ensuring a pleasant ride back. The excursion is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a day filled with unique interactions, historical insights, and unforgettable memories. It is an experience that is highly recommended for anyone who wishes to interact with elephants, explore historical sites, and immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.
