About Jaroenthong Muay Thai Gym
This hidden gem is a place that has been overlooked by many. The experience here is nothing short of fantastic, especially for those who are interested in Muay Thai. The trainer is not only knowledgeable but has also had fights in Thailand himself. He is able to adapt to the skill level of each individual, making the training sessions both challenging and rewarding. His command of English is good, and his personality is engaging, making the sessions enjoyable. The learning experience here is immense, with each session providing new insights and techniques. However, it's worth noting that this place also doubles as a fitness gym. While the gym facilities are commendable, the staff's attitude may leave a lot to be desired. Some visitors have reported that the staff seem unfriendly and demotivated, and there seems to be a lack of camaraderie among them. The cost of the Muay Thai training, at 600 Baht, has been deemed too high by some, especially considering the perceived lack of enthusiasm from the trainers.
The trainers have been reported to be somewhat aloof, not even offering a greeting at the beginning of the session. Some have been seen taking smoking breaks after just a couple of rounds of pad work, and even having breakfast in the back while the training is ongoing. This lack of motivation and customer service has led to some visitors questioning the value for money of the training sessions.
Despite these issues, the training does include a variety of exercises. A typical session might include 15 minutes of skipping, 5 minutes of tyre jumping, 4 rounds of pad work at 3 minutes each with the trainer, and 3 strengthening exercises. However, the perceived lack of engagement from the trainers has led to some dissatisfaction among visitors.
This place is not recommended for those looking for a traditional Muay Thai gym. It seems to cater more to locals looking to lose weight rather than serious Muay Thai enthusiasts. If you have some experience in Muay Thai and are looking for a place to hone your skills, you might want to look elsewhere. Interestingly, some have suggested that the best Muay Thai gyms are the ones that may not look the cleanest or most modern. These more basic gyms are often run by trainers who are passionate about the sport and eager to share their knowledge.
In conclusion, while this place has its merits, it may not be the best choice for everyone. If you're looking for a knowledgeable trainer and a good workout, it might be worth a visit. However, if you're looking for a traditional Muay Thai gym with passionate and motivated trainers, you might want to consider other options.
