Embarking on a live aboard experience on Manta Queen 1 is nothing short of amazing. The group leader, Marja, ensures that everyone feels welcome from the get-go and is committed to everyone having a great time. The dive guide, Tommy, is dedicated to making the most out of each minute underwater while maintaining safety. The entire Thai boat crew is charming and caring, making the experience even more enjoyable. A live aboard on the Manta Queen fleet comes highly recommended and is an experience worth repeating.The Manta Queen 8, despite having to cancel a trip due to unforeseen circumstances, handled the situation with excellent communication and ethical practices. They offered a full refund to a traveler who had arrived in Phuket in plenty of time to take the cruise. Their clear and timely communication, coupled with their ethical and responsible behavior, makes them a company worth diving with when in Phuket. They come highly recommended for anyone looking for a trip to the Similans.
The Manta Queen 2 offers a liveaboard experience to the three best dive sites in the area - Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and Richelieu Rock. The dive staff is amazing, and the boat crew is perfect, taking care of food, equipment, and cleaning. The trip offers the chance to meet a diverse range of sea life, including whale sharks, manta rays, schools of barracudas, and napoleon fish. The experience is so exhilarating that even the staff comes out of the water with great smiles, making any visibility issues at Richelieu Rock forgettable.
The Manta Queen 2 is a well-run operation that offers a safe and beautiful dive experience off the coast of Phuket. The staff is knowledgeable about the area and wildlife and speaks multiple languages. The boat is clean and modest, perfect for the purpose of the trip. The staff, especially the leader Esteban and cook P'Tip, are the highlights of the trip. The boat also offers additional certifications, making it a highly recommended trip for an easy, fun experience.
However, it's worth noting that the trips with Khao Lak Scuba Adventures may be more suited for beginners. Some travelers with more advanced diving experience have found the trips less satisfying due to issues with group dynamics and safety procedures. Despite these issues, the cruises are generally enjoyable with great food and warm people.
The Manta Queen 5, run by the same company, caters to different budgets and is a great option for solo travelers. The boat is simple but has everything needed for a comfortable trip. The meals are great and plentiful, and the dive briefs are done brilliantly by the trip leader. The guides are awesome both during the dives and socially, making the trip around the Similan Islands a guaranteed great dive trip.
The Manta Queen 7, operated by Khaolak Scuba, offers a fantastic 5-day trip. The crew is fun, professional, and safety-conscious, with comprehensive pre-dive briefings by the trip leader. The food is good, and the whole operation runs very smoothly. This trip comes highly recommended for anyone considering diving with KSA.
