About Ko Kham
Koh Kham, a small island located in the northwest of Koh Mak, is a heavenly beautiful destination that is a must-visit for any traveler. The island can be reached by a boat service arranged by Koh Mak Resort, a journey that takes approximately five minutes. The island boasts a clean, spectacular white sandy beach that is often uncrowded, allowing visitors to enjoy the breathtaking view in peace. The beach is worth every bit of the 200 baht fee charged for the boat service.However, it's worth noting that the island has seen some changes over the years. Once a natural paradise, parts of the island have been transformed into a construction site, with an unfinished hotel left decaying on one side. Despite this, the unfinished resort buildings are unobtrusive and covered with jungle vines, adding a unique charm to the island. There is a small beach shack selling canned drinks and beer, but apart from that, there isn't much to do on the island.
Despite these changes, Koh Kham remains a paradise for many. Pictures and videos don't do justice to the full beauty of the island, which has been listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The island is great for snorkeling, with lots of fish to see. The warm, shallow water is perfect for swimming, and the beach is a great place to relax and soak up the sun.
For those looking for a bit of adventure, there is a trail leading to a high vantage point at the northern end of the island. The 20-minute hike is well worth it, offering stunning views of the island and the surrounding sea. The island is also perfect for picnicking, with plenty of spots to set up and enjoy a meal amidst the beautiful scenery.
Interestingly, the island is currently for sale for 50 million USD. A 10-minute small-boat ride will take you to the island, where you can explore the not-finished ruined resort on site. Despite the hefty price tag, the island is a spot to see for sure.
Koh Kham is also a great destination for families. The beach gets very interesting when the low tide arrives, revealing a beautiful rock formation in front of the beach. A big sandbank comes very close to the water surface, making it possible to walk into the sea very far. The crystal-clear water is perfect for splashing in, and the beach is a safe and fun place for children to play. A small kiosk offers cold drinks and snacks, and there is a toilet in western style.
