Koh Ma, a hidden gem, is a paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts. The island is easily accessible from the shore, just a five-minute swim away. As one ventures out into the water, the vibrant corals become more and more visible, creating a mesmerizing underwater spectacle. The diversity of fish species is truly remarkable, making the snorkeling experience even more exciting and rewarding.The island is accessible through a resort, which owns the beach. The beach is a haven of tranquility, offering a variety of massages and fruit shakes at reasonable prices. Koh Ma is connected to the mainland by a thin strip of beach, approximately 15 meters wide, which is revealed and concealed with the changing tides. The clear waters offer a stunning view of the corals and marine life, making it highly recommended for visitors to bring their snorkeling gear.
The beauty of Koh Ma is breathtaking, especially when it's less crowded. It's advisable to visit around 11 am to avoid the afternoon rush when the beach tends to fill up, making it harder to capture unique photos. The experience of staying here is highly recommended, making the trip absolutely worth it.
However, visitors should be cautious of the sharp rocks that become exposed at low tide. The beach, although beautiful, can be challenging to navigate during this time. It's recommended to visit when the tide is higher for a more enjoyable experience.
The beach is lined with three or four hotels, and there's a large beach restaurant to cater to the many tourists. The nearby street boasts a few restaurants and shops, as well as a 7/11 for those looking for cheap beers. The sand bar may be underwater during certain months, but the snorkeling remains excellent, with shallow and clear waters.
Despite its beauty, some visitors may find Koh Ma overrated, especially if they've seen enhanced photos on the internet. The reality may not match the expectations set by these images, leading to some disappointment.
Getting to Koh Ma can be a bit tricky due to new construction in the area, but once there, the beauty of the place is undeniable. It's recommended to visit as soon as possible, as the surrounding area is being developed rapidly and may become crowded in the future. The water is perfect, and the beach pathway to a nearby island that appears during low tide is truly awesome.
