The Lub Lae cave, located just outside of Hua Hin and Cha-am, is a hidden gem that offers a unique and adventurous experience for those who dare to explore it. The journey to the cave itself is an adventure, requiring a boat ride from the beach at the National Park entrance around to a bay. From there, a steep climb of about half a kilometer up roughly hacked out steps in the rock leads to the cave entrance. This trek is not for the faint-hearted or unfit, but the reward is a breathtaking view of fantastic scenery and great photo opportunities.

Upon entering the cave, visitors are greeted by a beautiful sight of rock formations and lighting. The cave is home to hundreds of bats, hanging from the roof, providing a unique opportunity to see these creatures up close. The bats are not disturbing, and the few flying around have such good senses that they miss you by a long way. However, the cave floor can be a bit slippery due to the guano, or bat droppings, so visitors are advised to be careful and wear sturdy shoes.

The cave is also home to a variety of interesting stalagmites and stalactites, and other limestone formations that have taken many thousands of years to form. Some of these formations even resemble people and animals. The cave is very humid, so it is recommended to bring water. The signage inside the cave is good but not perfect, so visitors are advised to stay calm and not get disoriented.

Upon arrival at the cave, visitors are greeted by a friendly attendant, often a monk, who provides a torch for each person. The torches are necessary to navigate the cave and highlight the spectacular views inside. After exploring the cave, the torches are returned to the attendant, who also hands out bottles of water, a welcome refreshment after the humid cave exploration.

The Lub Lae cave is not a typical tourist destination, which adds to its charm. It offers a unique experience that is not commercially exploited. Visitors are encouraged to leave a donation to the monks after their visit for the upkeep of the cave. This ensures that the cave remains a special place for future visitors to enjoy.
