About May I Be Your Local Guide?

The tour was an exceptional experience that exceeded all expectations. The guide led the group to a variety of unique and delicious food spots, including Michelin recommended restaurants and food stalls. These were not the typical tourist destinations found in the inner city, but hidden gems that one might not discover on their own. The guide, Minty, was incredibly friendly and made sure to customize the tour to fit the group's eating preferences, ensuring a personalized and unforgettable culinary journey.

The food adventure was reminiscent of the explorations of the late Anthony Bourdain. The guide, May, took the group not only through the city of Chiang Mai but also to the more rural parts of the province. The group had the opportunity to taste the best khao soi, a staple dish in northern Thailand, and explore several local food stalls and restaurants. These were not the typical tourist traps but places where locals dine. The group also tried laab kai pan waen, a raw beef salad dish similar to tartare. The experience was made even more authentic by drinking local beers with ice, a common practice in this part of the world. The friendly interactions with the locals added to the overall experience, making it feel like a true Bourdain-style adventure.

The tour also included a trekking adventure. The guide, May, was very accommodating, contacting the group the previous day to arrange an earlier departure time. The drive from Chiang Mai took a little over an hour in a well air-conditioned car. Upon arrival, the group was joined by a local guide for the trek. Despite the physical challenges of the trek, the group was rewarded with the sight of a beautiful waterfall where they had the opportunity to swim. This was a unique and memorable experience, swimming alone in a gorgeous waterfall, it felt like a little piece of paradise. The trek also included a visit to the Sticky waterfalls, a unique spot where one can climb up wet rocks without the danger of slipping. The guide was very helpful, providing important advice and assistance throughout the trek. The adventure concluded with a delicious lunch before the group was driven back to their hotel.

The culinary journey continued with Minty and her sister, who drove the group around the corners of Chiang Mai. They visited numerous Michelin recommended restaurants and enjoyed exceptional food. The portions were generous, and the guides helped share the food among the group. The two ladies were warm and welcoming, eager to show the best of the city. This new experience was a pleasant surprise and one that the group would highly recommend.
