About Nang Ram Beach

The area is a picturesque haven, boasting a clean, soft sandy beach and crystal clear water that invites safe swimming. The beach is a great place to spend a day, offering a natural shaded area with pine trees and a great selection of fresh Thai food that is good value for money.

Just a couple of kilometers outside Sattahip, one can find Hat Nang Ram and Hat Nang Rong beaches. These beaches are considered the best in the area, although they can get quite busy on weekends, making parking a bit of a challenge. It's advisable to arrive early to secure a spot. The beaches are predominantly used by Thais, and visitors can either bring a picnic or buy reasonably priced Thai food. The area is well maintained, fairly clean, and offers plenty of shade.

The Royal Thai Navy is in charge of Nang Rum beach, ensuring it is always tidy and clean. The beach is usually frequented by well-mannered individuals, making it a peaceful place to visit, especially during weekdays. On sunny days, scuba and skin divers head to this beach, which is not far from Samae-san island, a paradise for fishing lovers. Despite July being the rainy season for Thai Gulf beaches, Nang Rum beach remains popular among both Thai and foreign tourists.

For those wishing to stay overnight in the area, the Royal Thai Navy offers various types of accommodation, including guesthouses, bungalows, and studio rooms. However, it's important to make reservations in advance and be aware of the regulations and rules. Despite these requirements, many find it worth staying in the area.

Nang Ram Beach, part of a navy base, is open to the public. It is run by the navy, ensuring it is clean and well ordered, unlike many other beaches in the area. However, some visitors have reported being denied access or being charged higher entry fees due to their non-Thai status. This has led to feelings of discrimination and frustration among some foreign visitors.

Despite these issues, the beach remains a popular destination, especially among locals. It is particularly busy on weekends due to its cleanliness. For those seeking a quieter experience, Nangrong beach, a little further down the road, is recommended. This beach is less noisy and has a small, simple resort where visitors can stay for around $50 per night. Both Nangrum and Nangrong beaches are recommended for individuals who enjoy mingling with the locals.
