About Nui Beach

The allure of snorkeling is a major draw for many visitors to this tropical paradise. Just a stone's throw away from the Phi Phi Island village, one can easily hire a long tail boat for a reasonable price or opt for a scenic walking path to reach the snorkeling spot. The convenience and accessibility of this location make it a popular choice for both locals and tourists alike.

Paradise Beach is another gem that is worth exploring. While it can be reached by a taxi boat, the adventurous and athletic can opt for a 20-minute walk from Lala Bay. This route involves crossing through water (if the sea is low) and some climbing through a jungle. It's a bit of an adventure, but with the right shoes and a sense of direction, it's a journey that's well worth the effort. The locals are always willing to show the way, making it easier to find this hidden paradise.

A longboat tour of the west side of the island is a must-do. The vendors along the pathway offer competitive prices for these tours. The last stop of the tour is Nui Beach, a slice of paradise that is postcard beautiful. The boat ride is fun and once there, visitors have the chance to swim and stroll around on the beach. The beach is not usually crowded, making it a peaceful and serene spot to relax and unwind.

For those who enjoy hiking, a 75-minute walk through the jungle from Tonsai to Nui Beach is a challenging but rewarding experience. The hike is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who are athletic and enjoy a good hike, it's a great way to explore the island. The path is well marked and there are signs to guide the way. The beach is usually fairly empty until about 10am, making it a peaceful spot to enjoy the early morning. However, it's important to note that there are no places to buy food or drinks after the viewpoint, so it's advisable to bring your own.

Phuket Beach, renamed Water Beach Club, is one of the 'secret beaches' in Phuket. This 120 m strip of sand dotted with large boulders is located roughly 3 kilometres through the jungle after Kata-Karon Viewpoint, on the road linking Kata and Nai Harn beaches. However, it's important to note that the beach is not well maintained and is often littered with waste. This is a sad sight and a stark reminder of the impact of human waste on nature.

Another hidden beach in Phi Phi Island is worth a visit. This beach can be reached with a rented longtail boat from Loh Au Dalam/Dalum. The beach is full of debris from the ocean, but when not facing the beach and pretending the debris does not exist, the view towards the ocean is beautiful and simply breathtaking. Swimming around the beach is a unique experience, albeit a bit disappointing due to the trash. Despite this, the determination to make the most of the experience is commendable. The snorkeling experience is not the best, with only a few colorful little fish around and no coral reefs. However, the experience of swimming with the trash is something that will not be forgotten.

In conclusion, while the beaches and snorkeling spots in this tropical paradise have their own unique charm and beauty, it's important to be aware of the environmental issues that are present. The impact of human waste on these beautiful locations is a stark reminder of the importance of preserving and protecting our natural resources. Despite these challenges, the beauty and allure of these locations continue to draw visitors from around the world.
