The journey between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai is made even more delightful with a stop at the hot springs. This rest stop is a perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee and watch as local ladies boil eggs in the hot springs. Visitors are encouraged to take off their shoes and soak their feet in the warm waters, providing a soothing respite from the journey.

The hot springs are also a fascinating sight to behold if you're traveling between Chiang Mai and Phayao. At times, the spout of the hot springs can reach up to 15 meters in height, creating a spectacle that is sure to captivate any traveler.

The hot springs are not just a visual treat, but also offer a unique sensory experience. The smell of rotten eggs, a characteristic of hot springs, fills the air. Despite this, the place has a charm of its own. There's a large swimming pool where visitors can take a dip in the warm waters. A long blue tiled trough area is also available for visitors to sit and soak their feet in the hot spring water. The surroundings, which include a river bridge and deep hot springs with their surface shimmering from the heat, add to the overall experience. Visitors can also boil their own eggs in little baskets, adding to the unique aroma of the place. After a walk around the hot springs, one can relax under the shade of trees with a refreshing iced tea.

The hot springs are located in the mountains opposite the elephant camp, and are known as Pha Soet Hot Springs. This place offers a hot spring bathing pool, hot spring water to bathe your feet in, private rooms with deep tubs, massages, and of course, BBQ chicken and hot boiled eggs. It's a perfect place for a day out in the hills, enjoying the hot springs and a great BBQ.

The hot springs are also a popular stop on the way to Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai. It's interesting to watch people cooking their eggs in little baskets, and also their meals, in the hot springs. A small geyser is also present here. The place is also home to many market stalls selling their wares, making it a great place for a short break on the long drive from Chiang Mai on the way to Chiang Rai.

Pha Soet Hot Springs is one of the two different places with hot springs described here. The other is Chiang Rai hot spring, which is a popular stop for tourist buses on the way north from Chiang Mai. While it may not be as visually appealing, it's a fine place to stretch your legs, buy refreshments, and use the toilet.

A visit to Pha Soet Hot Springs is not just about the visual appeal, but also about the experience it offers for the body. The hot bathing area with water that is reduced from +80 degrees Celsius to some 40-50 degrees is perfect for a relaxing dip. There are also private small huts available for hire for those who prefer a more private experience. After a dip in the hot springs, visitors can enjoy a Thai massage in the green garden, making it a truly rejuvenating experience for both body and mind.
