About Phraya Nakhon Cave
The journey to the cave is an enjoyable and manageable hike, even for those who are not the most outdoorsy. The hike is relatively steep, but with proper footwear, it is quite doable. Along the way, there are many information boards that share facts about the place, adding an educational element to the adventure. The cave itself houses a temple, inscriptions on the walls, and natural earth formations like stalagmites and stalactites, as well as a dry waterfall. The entrance fee is 200 Thai Baht, and refreshments can be bought at the restaurant at the start of the hike at Laem Sala beach. The sight that awaits at the end of the hike is breathtaking. The journey from Hua Hin to the national park takes about an hour, after which one can choose to hike for 30 minutes or take a boat to Laem Sala Beach. The hike to the cave is about 430 meters, with no shortcuts available. The trail is not paved, but steps have been created in the stones to aid hikers. The cave is a calming place, with statues of monks adding to the serene atmosphere. The journey back is faster as it is largely downhill.
The Phraya Nakhon Cave is a must-visit for anyone holidaying in Hua Hin. The journey to the cave is not as difficult as some might suggest. The hike to the beach is a couple of kilometers and takes 30 to 40 minutes, offering some very nice views over Laem Sala Beach and the Gulf of Thailand. The remaining 425 meters to the cave are quite steep, but manageable for anyone reasonably fit. The cave itself is impressive, with sunlight penetrating through the collapsed roofs, creating a breathtaking scene. The restaurant at the beach is a nice place for refreshments before heading back.
The hike to the cave is a rewarding experience. The entire journey, including the hike and time spent in the cave, can be completed in about two hours. The hike is steep and can be thirsty work, so carrying water is advisable. The cave is most beautiful between 9:30 and 11:00 when the light beams down on the temple. The entrance fee also allows access to other national parks in the area for the rest of the day.
The cave is very beautiful and can be reached by walking. However, it is not recommended for small children or those not capable of slightly challenging hiking. The light in the cave is perfect in the morning, especially in mid-February.
The cave is a must-see attraction around Hua Hin. It is located in a national park and is a separate area from the rest of Sam Roi Yot Park. The cave is actually a series of three different caves, two of them with openings in their ceilings. The caves are huge, beautiful, and mysterious. The park opens at 8:00 am, and it is recommended to visit early to avoid the crowds. The climb to the caves is challenging, but well worth it.
Visiting the cave in the morning is recommended as sunlight enters the cave from 10:00 to 12:00, creating a mysterious view. The journey from the entrance gate to the cave takes about an hour on a steep mountain road. It is possible to go halfway by boat when the sea is quiet. The cave can be reached by rental motorbike from Hua Hin in about 75 minutes. The last train from Hua Hin to Bangkok departs at 4pm.
