About Phu Kradueng National Park
Phu Kradueng is a destination that offers a unique experience for those who love hiking and adventure. The trip is best undertaken in the winter when the weather is cold and the foggy mornings create a beautiful atmosphere. However, it is recommended that visitors ensure they are physically fit before embarking on the journey to the top of the mountain. The trails are long and exciting, making it a place worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. The camping site is well-maintained, although hot water is not available. The food is a bit pricey due to the effort of carrying everything up the hill, but it is reasonable considering the circumstances.
The majority of trekkers are under 30, but age is not a barrier for those who are reasonably fit. The mountain can be explored by hiring bicycles, which may not be the best in terms of suspension, but are a must for exploring the mountain. The experience is extremely well-organised and wonderful.
Getting to Phu Kradueng National Park is quite straightforward. An overnight bus from Mo Chit Station 2 to Pha Nok Khao station in Loei is available. From there, a Songtaew ride to the park is available. The entrance fee for foreigners is 400 Baht. There are counters at the office where you can pay for your stay and rent a tent. Porter service is also available.
The hike to the top of the mountain takes about 4 hours, and from the mountain top, it's about a 3km walk to the campsite where you can rent sleeping bags, mattress, pillow, and even powerbank. There are plenty of places to eat around the campsite and the prices are decent. However, it can get pretty cold at night, so it's advisable to bring a jacket and a sleeping bag.
Phu Kradeung offers amazing sunsets, sunrises, hikes and trails. It is one of the favourite places in Thailand for many visitors, although getting to and from the national park can be a bit difficult. There are several tips and information that might be useful for visitors. For instance, it's advisable to stay for at least two nights to fully explore the park. Also, it's important to note that the waterfalls might be dried up depending on the time of the year.
For solo hikers, Phu Kradeung offers a safe and wonderful experience. The cliffs are breath-taking but could be tough to reach as they are far away from the visitor's center. You can either walk or rent a bike to get there. Food is very affordable, but water can be a little pricey. Showers are free but very cold. However, there is a coin-operated hot shower available.
Phu Kradueng National Park is a wonderful place to visit because of its unique nature ecosystem, wild elephants, pine trees in the plateau, and beautiful flowers and plants in the tropical rain forest part of the park. There are fantastic views from the table plateau, very good marking system of the paths, and very nice Thai people. The park is also well-equipped with food stations, so there's no need to bring your own food.
In conclusion, a trip to Phu Kradueng is a memorable experience that offers a unique blend of adventure, nature, and tranquility. Whether you're a solo hiker or travelling with friends, Phu Kradueng is a destination that will leave you with unforgettable memories.
