The breathtaking view of the mountains and the Mekong river is a sight to behold. The best time to experience this is early in the morning when the fog gently blankets the mountains, creating a serene and mystical atmosphere. However, one cannot drive all the way to the mountains. Tickets for transport are available for purchase, which will take you to the top of the mountain.Just a short 10-minute drive from the town, this location offers a spectacular view of the sunrise. The journey begins at the break of dawn, reaching the carpark from where an authorized pickup truck takes you up to the peak. A Buddha statue at the peak is a common sight in Thailand. As the crowd builds up, the first rays of the sun start to peek from behind the mountains, creating a beautiful spectacle. The mist below forms a cloud sea, and by the time the sun fully rises, you are treated to a 360-degree view from the peak. One side faces the Mekong River and Chang Khan town.
The view from the summit is truly breathtaking. After parking at the base of the mountain, a pickup takes you to the summit for a small fee. From there, a short panoramic stroll offers a picturesque view of the Loei mountain range and fields.
The best time to visit is before sunrise, when the view is unique and breathtaking. After parking your car, a local pickup truck takes you to the top. On the way down, local food shops offer a perfect spot for breakfast. If you have a professional camera, it's highly recommended to bring it along. Despite the crowd during high season, the experience is still worth it.
To fully appreciate the site, it's best to visit early in the morning. For those who prefer a more active approach, a bicycle ride to the top is an option, though a public taxi is also available at the bottom of the hill. The climb is steep and long, but the reward at the top is a 180-degree view of the area with the morning mist.
The experience is not only stunning but also peaceful. It's an easy journey from the main walking street area via tuk tuk. Once at the base of the mountain, a small fee per person will get you a ride on a Thai open-air bus-style ute to the top. As the sun rises and fills the sky with clouds, the view is simply breathtaking. It's advisable to bring a jacket just in case, but the overall experience is beautiful and worth every moment.
