About Phuket Botanic Garden
Upon arrival at the botanical gardens, one might be taken aback by the desolate entrance and car park. Despite the inviting facade, the 500 baht per adult entry fee might seem steep, especially considering the state of the gardens. The funds collected do not seem to be invested back into the maintenance of the gardens, which is evident from the untidy and unkempt state of the flora. The gardens, unfortunately, have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, making it an uncomfortable experience for visitors. The lack of maintenance extends to the bird enclosures as well, which are small and unclean. The sight of peacocks, stripped of their feathers and seemingly uncared for, hidden away in a small enclosure, is disheartening. This sight alone might prompt visitors to make a beeline for the exit.
The botanical gardens might not be on everyone's itinerary, but those who happen to be in the area might be tempted to visit. However, the lack of maintenance and the mosquito infestation might leave them regretting their decision. The dimly lit gift store at the end of the tour might give the impression that the place is on the market for a new owner.
The park might seem abandoned upon arrival, with rubbish strewn across the car park. The 500 baht per person entry fee and the additional 50 baht for mosquito spray might deter potential visitors. The gardens are not expansive, and the sight of unhappy caged birds and injured fish might further discourage visitors. The presence of dead plants and fake flowers might make the entry fee seem unjustified.
The botanical gardens might have been a place of excellence in 2015, but since then, it appears to have been neglected. The birds, especially the peacocks, seem forlorn in their small cages. The absence of butterflies in the advertised butterfly area might be disappointing. The lack of active staff or gardeners during a visit might be noticeable. The only redeeming feature might be the variety of birds in the trees. The gardens are in dire need of tender loving care (TLC).
The gardens might not meet the expectations of a botanical garden. The design might seem lacking, and even the nicer displays might be ruined by out-of-place ceramic gnome-like objects. The gardens might seem like a comical display of tasteless objects.
The gardens might initially seem pleasant to wander through, despite the lack of plant variety or labels. However, the sight of baby hedgehogs in steaming hot, dirty, glass aquariums without food or water might be horrifying. The sight of these poor creatures, lying limp and panting, might be the most disgusting display of animal cruelty. The ignorance and lack of empathy shown by the people who work at the gardens might be appalling. The gardens might not be worth the entry fee, especially considering the unnecessary and pitiful displays of baby animals.
