An added advantage is the hourly airport bus service that operates to and from the terminal. The area around Terminal 1 is dotted with affordable hotels, conveniently located near the Old Town.

The local bus service between Karon and Phuket Town is another great way to experience local transportation. For just 40 baht, one can travel from Karon or Kata into Phuket Town. The Blue Bus, an open-sided truck, operates from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm approximately every 20 minutes. However, these times should be taken with a pinch of salt as there are no fixed bus stops. For 30 THB, one can travel from Patong to the Central Festival Shopping Centre and Old Phuket Town. To board the bus, simply wave it down, and to get off, press the buzzer on the ceiling of the bus. However, this service does not operate from beach to beach. To travel from Patong to Karon, one would need to go into Phuket Town and change buses.
