About Robinsons Department Store
Robinsons is a two-storey shopping mall located just outside Kanchanaburi, on the 'Bypass' highway to Sai Yok. It's a relatively small mall compared to those in Bangkok, but it's a place where one can finish exploring within two hours. The mall is not densely populated, perhaps due to the ongoing epidemic, making it a good place for a quiet rest. It's a place where one can go on vacation, perhaps even take a sibling to buy an iPad for online studies.The mall has a large vehicle parking area, and upon entering the parking lot, a lot attendant issues a ticket, which is returned upon exiting the lot. The purpose of this policy is not entirely clear. The mall is not conveniently located, and one would need a car or taxi to visit.
Robinsons departmental store is the anchor tenant of this mall, spanning two floors. Some of the other tenants include Boots, Watsons, Tops Supermarket (which is not too big), Robinsons sports (which is worth a visit), KFC, Auntie Pretzel, a food court, an amusement arcade, and plenty of mobile phone accessories stalls, amongst a few others.
On the second level, there are many telecom shops, banks, and a food centre. The mall does not contain an interesting supply of shops, but it does have a nice modern cinema. Inside the mall, there are a variety of fast food, clothing, electronics, and a grocery store. However, the prices of items viewed are generally considered overly priced.
Despite the high prices, the mall is a nice respite on a hot day. It's a cute shopping mall with everything one would expect: food, clothes, a game area, and a full floor of electronics. It's nice and clean, with great food. If you are after brand name handbags, this place does have some gorgeous merchandise. However, some might find the store quite expensive and might as well buy back home.
After a long travel from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, one can enter this mall and end up spending three hours. It's perfect for grabbing ready-to-eat food, milk, etc. for a stay in Kanchanaburi. Since Kanchanaburi has no malls, it's lucky to be able to grab necessities at Robinsons. However, apart from grabbing some snacks and the items needed, one might not spend much time in the mall.
