About Saladan Pier
The Saladan Pier, though small in size, is a well-organized hub of activity. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by helpful staff who inquire about their ticket status and guide them to the appropriate location. After securing their boat tickets and stickers, guests are invited to sit and wait for their pick-up to the Marina pier. The boats are punctual, ensuring a smooth transition for travelers. The pier is also the main parking area, located about 200 meters away from the ferry. This distance is due to ongoing construction work. Despite this, the pier efficiently manages the simultaneous embarking and disembarking of passengers. It's important to note that there is a 10 baht landing fee for all visitors.
The Saladan Pier is a bustling place where ferry boats arrive and depart. During a recent visit, there was construction work underway. Despite the hustle and bustle, there are a few small bars and refreshment areas for visitors to enjoy. However, the restrooms are quite basic. It's recommended to head straight to town or to your accommodation upon arrival, as there isn't much to do at the pier itself.
The staff at the check-in for the Satun Pakbara speed boat are friendly, efficient, and helpful. There's a pleasant little bar/restaurant with shade for those looking to relax before their journey. A money changer is also available for convenience. However, the toilets could use an upgrade.
Saladan is the center of the Koh Lanta universe. It's the place to catch a ferry, organize excursions, do food shopping, eat at night markets, have a drink, or arrange a dive. Saladan truly has it all.
Saladan Pier is the main gateway to Koh Lanta. Whether you're entering or exiting the island, this is where you need to be. Boat tickets are usually available at hotel front desks or counters, but if for any reason you're unable to purchase them there, they can be bought at the pier. There are also food shops and souvenir shops for visitors to explore. While there is no exit fee, there is a 10 baht entrance fee. All hotels, guest houses, and resorts provide free shuttle van services to this pier.
Upon arriving at Ko Lanta, be prepared to be greeted by a flurry of Tuk Tuk and taxi drivers vying for your attention. This can be overwhelming, especially after a long journey. If you're waiting for a hotel shuttle that doesn't show up, these drivers are ready to take you to your destination. However, it's advised not to pay more than 200 baht for a transfer to your hotel to avoid being overcharged.
