Nestled in the heart of Phuket's old town, the Sangtham Shrine is a small yet captivating Chinese temple that has become a must-visit spot for tourists. The temple is adorned with vibrant hues and intricate details, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts. The tranquillity of the shrine also makes it an ideal place for a short meditation session.
The Sangtham Shrine is not just a place of worship, but also a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Phuket. Built over a hundred years ago by Luang Amnat Nararak, a Chinese senior government officer, the shrine is a well-preserved example of Hokkien Chinese architecture. The artistic wall art and stonework add to the charm of the shrine, which was recognized with the Conservation Award by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 1997.
