Soi Dog Foundation (SDF) is Southeast Asia's largest rescue organisation, dedicated to caring for Thailand's most vulnerable stray dogs and cats. Founded in 2003, the charity now cares for over 1,800 animals at the Gill Dalley Sanctuary located in Mai Khao, Phuket.
SDF has worked tirelessly to reduce animal suffering through their CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) programme, which has reached over one million animals via their clinics in Phuket and Bangkok, and mobile teams operating in provinces across Thailand. They work with local communities and schools to promote animal welfare and after successfully ending the dog and cat meat trade in Thailand, they continue to fight against the trade in other countries across Asia.
In addition to treating sick and injured animals, SDF provides sanctuary for those who cannot be safely returned and also operates an adoption service, both here in Thailand and internationally.
With no Government funding, SDF relies entirely on the kindness of donations to keep up their incredible work. Visitors can volunteer at the sanctuary, socialising and walking their resident dogs and meeting like-minded animal lovers during their trip!
The sanctuary is also open to visitors, Monday-Friday from 9-11.30am in the morning and from 1-3.30pm in the afternoon. Guided tours are available at 10am and 1.30pm. Following the guided tour, you can meet the resident cats and join in with the mayhem of the puppy run! There's no need to book ahead for the tours, just turn up and it's completely free to join.
