About Songkhla Central Mosque

The Taj Mahal of Thailand is a sight to behold, especially during sunset. The place is not vast, but it is filled with beauty and tranquility. It is a serene spot where visitors can feed fish at the pond in front of the mosque, adding a touch of charm to the overall experience.

The mosque itself is a marvel, with its peaceful surroundings and tranquil atmosphere. It is a place that captivates the senses and leaves one in awe of its beauty. The mosque is not just a place of worship, but also a place of peace and tranquility.

The best time to visit this magnificent mosque is after Asar, during sunset. The mosque offers a unique kind of reflection pool, reminiscent of the Taj Mahal and Angkor Wat. After praying Magrib, the early evening prayer, visitors can head up to Khlong Hae Seafood Buffet, a halal restaurant located along the way back to the city.

The mosque is located on the main highway linking Hat Yai with Songkla. Despite its proximity to Hat Yai, it is named after the state, not the city. The architecture is bold yet respectful, and the mosque is open and airy. The views of the surrounding countryside are striking, and the lower level houses a few food stalls. It is a place of interest that is well worth a visit, especially for those also traveling to the beaches in Songkla city.

The mosque is located quite near to the floating market, about a 10-minute drive away. It is a functional mosque, with prayers still being held there. The grand exterior and interior of the prayer hall, the size of the entire place, high ceilings, and shiny floor are all impressive. The prayer hall is located at level 2 if you come from the carpark. There’s a minimart and a stall selling some food and drinks at the basement as well. The area outside is great for taking many photos, and visitors might even come across some sheep during their visit!

The mosque is on the way to Samilla Beach. Visitors can stop by here first before reaching Samilla Beach because on the way back from the beach, it is not possible to make a U-turn to enter the mosque due to a water canal dividing the road.

Also known as the Taj Mahal Mosque by the locals, this mosque is quite far from Hatyai city. The journey to this place takes about 20-30 minutes. Despite being a bit off the beaten path, it is a place worth visiting. There are some food stalls/vendors selling food under the mosque building, adding to the overall experience. The mosque offers an amazing and stunning view, making it a must-visit spot in Thailand.
