The State Tower, a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, has been the subject of mixed feelings. Its location is undeniably one of its strongest points. Nestled in the heart of the city, it offers easy access to various places and affordable food stops. Despite the Tower itself not being as neat, it offers a reasonable price that attracts many visitors.

The Tower is also known for its panoramic sky bar, which offers an amazing view of the city. However, some visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with the way they were treated. Upon arrival, they were ushered into a very pink room and pressured to purchase a bottle of champagne. When they insisted on having cocktails instead, they were moved to an outside bar that was in a state of disrepair. The cocktails, unfortunately, were not up to par and were priced at a steep $30 USD each.

The sky bar at the Dome is another point of contention. Some visitors have reported being moved around from floor to floor before finally reaching the top. The experience was further marred by the presence of a rowdy group of party-goers. Despite the supposed dress code, the atmosphere was less than inspiring.

The State Tower is also famous for being featured in the movie Hangover 2, a fact that management has capitalized on. The views of Bangkok at night, especially down the river, are fantastic. However, to enjoy the best views, one must either have a drink at the bar or dine there. Otherwise, access is restricted to an area that does not offer the best photo opportunities. The prices for drinks are quite high, with a glass of champagne costing 5000 baht+ ($200 AUD) and a glass of wine 780 baht ($32 AUD).

The champagne bar at the State Tower has also been a source of disappointment for some. Visitors have reported being pressured into ordering champagne, despite expressing a preference for other drinks. The champagne was not only expensive but also of mediocre quality. To add insult to injury, they later discovered that other drinks were available at another bar just down the steps.

The prices at the State Tower have been steadily increasing over the years, much to the dismay of regular visitors. The cost of a beer, for instance, has reached a point where it is considered a rip-off. The bar staff's insistence on presenting the bill just as patrons are starting to relax has also been a point of contention. The prices are ++, meaning a 10% service charge and a 7% VAT are added to the already high prices.

Despite the stunning views, the service and price at the State Tower have been a letdown for many. The management's decision to capitalize on the Tower's fame from Hangover 2 has resulted in inflated prices that have left many visitors feeling ripped off. The spectacular view, while impressive, is not considered worth the exorbitant prices and less than stellar service.
