About Sunflower Field

The sunflower fields of Thailand are a sight to behold, a vibrant spectacle of nature that is both sunny and bright. It's an ideal destination for those seeking a fun and unique experience, offering the perfect opportunity for beautiful photos and a breath of fresh air. However, it's important to verify before traveling there to ensure the sunflowers are in bloom. The best time to visit is in the morning when the lighting is just right and the flowers are perfectly oriented towards the sun.

The expansive and gorgeous sunflower fields are a photographer's dream. The sunflower season in Thailand typically runs from mid-November to early January, although this can vary depending on the weather each year. The best part? There's no entrance fee. The golden fields are completely free to explore. Visitors might even be treated to the delightful sounds of children singing and playing instruments somewhere in the area. For photo enthusiasts, it's like being a kid in a candy store, with endless opportunities to capture the stunning yellow hues of the fields. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen, as it can get hot quickly.

The journey to the sunflower fields is a beautiful experience in itself. Many travelers drive from Bangkok, passing through Saraburi where the sunflower fields begin, and continue on to Lopburi. It might be tempting to stop at the first full sunflower fields you see, but it's worth waiting until you reach Lopburi, where the larger fields offer even better photo opportunities. Visiting the fields in the early morning and again at sunset is highly recommended, as both times offer unique and equally beautiful views. Don't forget to stop at one of the small stalls to buy organic honey and various roasted sunflower seeds. A stop at the large Buddha statue by the dam for a cooling drink is also worth considering.

Renting a van from Bangkok to Lopburi is a popular option. The journey is about three hours, and visitors can spend several hours exploring the beautiful sunflower fields. A small fee is required to enter the field, but once inside, you can stay as long as you like.

For those unable to secure a train ticket, taking a bus to Lopburi is a viable alternative. Buses depart from the Mo Chit bus terminal every 20-30 minutes, with tickets priced at 110 Baht. The journey to the Lopburi bus terminal takes approximately three hours. From there, you can hire a songtheaw to tour around Lopburi.

A visit to Lopburi can easily be combined with a trip to Bangkok. After checking out the monkey temple, take a cab from the Lopburi train station to the sunflower fields. The friendly drivers are often willing to wait while visitors explore and take pictures in the field. Some may even offer to stop at another field on the way back to the train station.

The sunflower fields are particularly abundant in November. Roadside stands sell a variety of sunflower-related products, from seeds to sunflower-themed items. However, the blooming season may be delayed due to late-season rains, so it's always a good idea to check before planning a visit. Regardless of when you go, a trip to the sunflower fields of Thailand is sure to be a memorable experience.
