About Thai-Chinese Cultural Center

The Thai Chinese Culture Centre is a grand and richly adorned establishment, far more than just an official building. It is a beautiful structure in its own right, housing a variety of indoor exhibitions that are well worth exploring. The Centre provides a wealth of information about the arrival of Chinese immigrants to Thailand, all presented in a stunning setting. The architecture and gardens are a sight to behold, and the free entrance exhibition is a bonus.

The Centre is a fantastic way to spend a few hours, especially considering there is no entrance fee. The setting is picturesque, and there is a museum dedicated to Confucius that is quite intriguing. One of the highlights is a beautiful koi pond that winds its way around the buildings. The pond is home to a multitude of colourful fish, and for a small fee, visitors can feed them with a baby bottle, a unique and fun experience that is sure to delight.

The Centre also features a couple of gift shops, a restaurant, and a coffee shop, providing plenty of options for refreshments and souvenirs. Once visitors have finished exploring the Centre, they can enjoy the adjacent park, complete with a large lake and children's play area. Bicycles are available for hire for those who wish to ride around the park.

The Centre is also a place of respect for the people of Udon Thani, as it serves as a provincial shrine. Frequent events and festivals are held here, and there is even a free lunch for all visitors. The Centre also houses the Udon Thani Museum, which tells the story of the Chinese immigrants who came to Udon Thani many years ago.

The Centre is a peaceful and lovely place, featuring a tranquil Chinese garden, art decorations, and a museum. It is a wonderful place to spend some time and enjoy the serene surroundings. The Centre is also home to some of the most amazing gardens, with a central theme of a koi pond where visitors can bottle feed hundreds of tame koi. There are numerous small features to discover, including the enchanting moss waterfalls.

The Centre also tells the history of the relations between Thai and Chinese people over the years. It was built by the Thai-Chinese Foundation to honour the Chinese community and Thai people's respect and gratitude towards the Chinese immigrants who came to Udon Thani during the Second World War. These immigrants brought with them goods that were highly appreciated by the locals and started dealing in gold, a trade that is still significant in Udon Thani today.

The Centre also provides information about the various festivals celebrated in Thailand throughout the year, with videos explaining the meaning and significance of each festival. Outside the museum, there is a large aquarium filled with colourful fish that seem to want to interact with visitors. The area around the museum is extraordinarily beautiful, and visitors can enjoy a special cake and tea at the coffee shop in front of the museum. The coffee shop itself is worth a visit, offering a refreshing glimpse into history.
