About Than Sadet Waterfall National Park
Nestled within a national park, a small waterfall offers a quaint and charming experience for visitors. The waterfall is accessible by car, with a small fee of 100 Baht for entry. The journey to the waterfall is a short walk, presenting a beautiful, albeit small, cascade of water that is pleasing to the eye, though not particularly overwhelming. However, some visitors have expressed disappointment with their experience. They found the beach area to be unclean and littered with garbage, and the park itself was difficult to locate. The waterfall, while present, was described as a mere trickle of water running down stones, which left some visitors feeling that their time and money had been wasted.
On the other hand, many visitors have found the waterfall to be a delightful experience. Located north of the Khao ra viewpoint, about 620 meters up, the waterfall is surrounded by lush jungle and a clear stream of water. Visitors are advised to bring swimming gear, drinking water, and sun protection. Food is not allowed in the park, so it's recommended to eat beforehand. The walk to the waterfall is about 1.5 kilometers, and while it's not a difficult trek, it may not be suitable for those requiring walking aids. The path is a natural hiking trail, covered with smaller rocks, steps to climb, and tree roots running across.
The waterfall itself is about 30 meters high, ending in a pool perfect for swimming. After rainfall, the current in the creek can be strong, but ropes have been fixed across the creek for safety. The water is abundant, crystal clear, and refreshing, making it a worthwhile visit. Visitors should plan for 3-4 hours to fully enjoy their time at the waterfall.
The waterfall can be a tough climb, but the views are worth the effort. The pools are deep and the water flows beautifully, especially after heavy rain. However, visitors should be cautious with their choice of footwear as the climb can be treacherous. The views from the waterfall are stunning, making it a highlight of many visitors' trips. However, some visitors have reported poor service and lackluster food at 'the kitchen', a restaurant at the entrance of the park, and recommend avoiding it.
The waterfall can vary greatly depending on the time of year. Some visitors have reported a lack of water during certain months, while others have found it to be spectacular, especially in January. The clear water and the pools provide a refreshing break, and the view of Koh Phangan from the top is breathtaking. It's considered one of the best things to do on the island.
The waterfall can be a popular spot, especially after the full moon party, but if you visit a few days later, you might have the place all to yourself. However, some visitors have reported disappointment when visiting after a big rainfall, as they found the waterfall to be dry. Despite the mixed experiences, the waterfall remains one of the places to visit on the island.
