About Thana City Country Club

Thana City Golf Course, located at Bangna-trad KM 14, is a mere thirty-minute drive from central Bangkok and a quick fifteen-minute journey from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. This 18-hole semi-private golf course is the only one in Thailand designed by Greg Norman. The course, which is part of the Thana City residential and lifestyle community, spans 7,008 yards and is a par 72 layout. It features fast greens, strategically placed bunkers, and natural lakes and streams, making it a great sporting destination.

The golf course is not just for golf enthusiasts, it also serves as a good venue for launch events. It has an in-house restaurant and is easily accessible from the highway or expressway. It's a great spot for a quick game before catching a flight, thanks to its proximity to the airport. However, first-time players are advised to follow the caddies' advice as there are hidden water hazards.

While the golf course offers a great experience, visitors should be aware of the costs. Golfing here can be quite expensive, especially for tourists. The charges include game fees, cart, caddy, and club rentals. After the game, there's a pro shop where you can browse, but be prepared for high prices. Communication can be a challenge as not all staff members are fluent in English.

Despite the costs, many golfers have had great experiences at Thana City Golf Course. The caddies are cheerful and the course is well-maintained. It's challenging, as expected from a Greg Norman course, but can be played by high handicappers without too much difficulty. The last three holes, known as the Shark Bite, are particularly fun. The locker facilities are top-notch, although the sauna is no longer operational. The cafe serves delicious snacks like chicken wings and crispy pork belly, and a cold jug of Asahi with frosted glasses is the perfect way to end the day.

However, some golfers have expressed frustration with the slow pace of play, which is often due to groups of five playing together and not enough time allowed between tee times. This can lead to long waits at the tee offs and around the green. Despite this, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the 19th hole facilities are excellent, complete with a nice restaurant and patio with comfortable loungers.

The course is often crowded due to its proximity to the city, and some golfers have suggested that the management should take action to manage the number of people allowed on the course each day. Despite these issues, many golfers continue to enjoy playing at Thana City. The course is in great shape, although the rough can be challenging. The weekday play fee is reasonable and includes a cart and caddy. Just be sure to bring plenty of golf balls!
