About Thung Si Mueang
The park is a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike. It's a popular place to get some exercise and enjoy the fresh air. The park is often bustling with activity, with people walking, jogging, and simply enjoying the outdoors. The park is also a great place to observe the local daily life of the Ubon people. From as early as 5 o'clock in the morning, many locals come to the park for exercises such as jogging, riding bicycles, aerobic dance, yoga, and Tai Chi Chuan.The park is also a great place for children, with a good playground suitable for under 6s. The perimeter of the park serves as a great running track, which gets very busy in the early evening. There's also a small temple, an outdoor gym, basketball courts, and a photogenic candle monument. In the far southwest corner, there's a small monument of thanks from World War II prisoners of war to the local people who gave them food during their captivity.
However, it's worth noting that the park can get quite hectic during the Songkran water festival. But for those who enjoy a bit of manic hysteria and water fights, it's a lot of fun. At new year, there's a big fair and a teak furniture market. Most weekends, there's an amazing food night market on the adjoining walking street. The park has a great buzz once it gets dark and is a very safe place with many friendly locals who like to try out their English. There's ample parking available in the cross-sectional road before 4pm.
The park is also home to a beautiful set of temples with a riverside garden. The worship areas, complete with golden Buddhas and decor, are a sight to behold. The riverside meditation garden is an unexpected delight and a great place to take memorable pictures.
There's also much to do in terms of shows, dancing, and weekend outdoor shopping centers. Food galore can be found on the square, along with many opportunities to exercise. The park also offers a very good jogging trail in the midst of the city. It's close to local schools and is a place where you can meet special people.
The park is a good place to go if you want to exercise and/or walk about the city. It's also a wonderful place to go for the candle celebration, which is one of the must-see things to do when you visit Thailand. On a regular day, you can go to the park and learn some about Ubon. The park is definitely worth a visit, with its well-shaded perimeter track and its vibrant atmosphere.
