About Tung Prong Thong

The Golden Meadows, also known as Tung Prong Thong, is a must-visit destination for nature lovers. This stunning location is one of the most beautiful and longest walkways one can experience. The path is surrounded by camouflaged trees, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere that goes on and on, making it a unique experience for travelers.

Tung Prong Thong is one of the largest mangrove areas in Thailand. The best time to visit is around 5pm when the setting sun brings out the golden hue of the mangrove forest, creating a breathtaking view. The boardwalk is well-maintained, and there's also a boat ride that takes you out to sea and drops you off at one of the viewing points. This place is worth spending a good 30 minutes to an hour exploring, with several lovely spots for taking photographs.

Walking through the mature and young mangrove forests is a fascinating experience. The strange, arching roots of the big trees hold them steady in the swampy ground, creating an unusual and interesting sight. There are several wide observation areas where you can rest and take photos. The whole walk is a great experience, with the chance to pass the Frigate Prasae on the way.

This green spot of mangrove forest is a must-visit when you are in Rayong. There are parking lots managed by local people, or you can park at the HTMS Prasae Memorial. Both places can be reached through a wooden walk bridge. The 3 km bridge will take you to Prong Thong forest and other mangrove forests, as well as many photo stops. If you plan to visit after 10am or at noon, it's recommended to bring sunglasses, a cap, an umbrella, and drinking water. Visitors are also encouraged to keep the place clean from any trash.

The Golden Meadows is worth a half-day visit. You can walk through the mangroves on elevated pathways, and there's a very good viewing tower that you can walk up, which provides a great panoramic view of the surrounding area.

This is a great day trip if you are in the Rayong area. You can take a half-hour boat trip down the river through the mangrove forest and see how they harvest oysters. The boat takes you out to sea and turns around so you can take a walk on the raised wooden platforms through the mangrove forest. With luck, you may spot some fish and wild birds. It's advisable to take a bottle of water to drink on the walk as it can be hot and humid.

The golden mangrove field is a natural attraction that's perfect for photography, especially around 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. However, visitors are advised to bring their own drinking water and to not leave any waste behind. If you plan to visit after 5 p.m., it's recommended not to come alone as the area is far from the village and there is no government patrol in the area. So, take care of yourself and enjoy the beauty of this natural attraction.
