Wandering Star Tours is a highly recommended tour company, especially for solo travelers. One traveler felt completely safe with the company's driver, Mr. Bee, during a solo trip to Chiang Mai. Despite his limited English, he was able to understand the traveler's itinerary and even took photos for them. The agent, Miss Dao, was also very helpful in communicating and recommending temples.

The service provided by Wandering Star Tours is outstanding. From the moment a traveler stepped into the office of Kae and Dao, they were met with a welcoming, smiling, fun, and solution-oriented approach. They both helped the traveler immensely and organized two hiking trips. The trips, both led by the very competent guide, Pong, took the group through stunning nature, waterfalls, and allowed them to see animals and creatures. The hikes were at times a little challenging, but not too challenging, and the group returned full of impressions and gratitude (and slight physical exhaustion) from having been outside for 10+ hours.

Wandering Star Tours also offers a zip line tour in Chiang Mai. The staff is informative, friendly, and caters to the needs of the travelers, whatever traveling experience they may be having. They also offer an ethical elephant experience. The staff is described as a super lovely bunch of people.

The company is also praised for its fantastic service. One traveler booked all of their tours in Chiang Mai at this agency, including The Jungle Elephant sanctuary, Siam rice cooking class, and a mini van to Pai. The service is fantastic and Dao is noted for going above and beyond to help. She even gave tips on good restaurants in the area. She's described as kind, happy, and willing to answer all questions. Dao also provides her contact number in case the pick up doesn't turn up or if there are any problems.

Wandering Star Tours also offers a guide to Doi Suthep Temple with Guide Amy and Mr Nid. Dao is praised for her brilliant help in arranging all of the trips and visits that a traveler wanted to take during their time in Chiang Mai. Amy was so informative and took lots of time to explain and answer questions. The evening tour was perfect as it was not so busy. The travelers heard the Monks chant and Amy explained very well about the history and religion. Mr Mid was a very courteous and careful driver.

The tour to the Doi Inthanon National Park and the tour to the Elephants Sanctuary are also highly recommended. The tours were very well organized and the price was fair. The lady at the agency is described as very friendly.

However, not all experiences with Wandering Star Tours were positive. One traveler booked the so-called Golden Triangle day tour from Chiang Mai and was disappointed. They felt that the first stop on this tour, a hot spring, was misrepresented as it was simply a hole in a parking lot surrounded by shopping stalls. The long ride from Chiang Rai to the Golden Triangle, where Burma, Laos and Thailand all meet at a bend in the river, was described as just a bend in the river with a hundred shopping stalls for those not inclined to investigate the bend in the river by boat for an hour. The traveler felt that the Golden Triangle was highly overrated and a total waste of time and money.
