The temple, though somewhat run-down, is a fascinating place to visit, primarily due to the gang of macaques that inhabit the area. These monkeys are smart and opportunistic, so visitors are advised to keep their bags zipped and sunglasses securely stowed. The climb to the temple can be quite hot, so packing some water is a good idea.The temple is located at the top of a hill, surrounded by monkeys. The climb to the temple involves a stairway, but the view from the top is worth the effort. The breeze at the top of the hill is refreshing, making it a great place to visit.
The area is teeming with monkeys, creating a unique experience for visitors. The surrounding area is quite run-down, with rubbish scattered around, but the monkeys seem to have taken over, creating a sort of monkey apocalypse. The view of Hua Hin from the top of the stairs is quite good. The monkeys generally leave visitors alone, but it's not advisable to bring food as it might attract unwanted attention. Some of the larger male monkeys can be a bit intimidating, but they are generally harmless. The monkeys are fed by someone, which keeps them content. However, if you're not a fan of monkeys, this place might not be for you.
Getting to the temple can be done by tuk tuk, although it might be a bit pricey. The driver can take you all the way up the hill, leaving only the steps to the temple. Walking back along the beach is an option, but be aware that there are not many exits from the beach due to the hotels. At the top of the hill, there's a cafe and a few tourist shops. If you walk down the hill, there's a bigger cafe and a restaurant. The stairs to the temple might not be ideal for everyone, but driving to the base of the temple still offers a nice view and plenty to see. The monkeys are generally fine, but it's best to give them space and not carry food.
The temple is a must-see in Hua Hin, with two temples and monkeys that are not dangerous. It's a bit of a trek to get there, and one of the temples has a steep stairway. It might not be particularly friendly for the aged or infirm.
