About Wat Lok Molee

The temple is a sight to behold, with its stunning architecture and intricate details. The main temple is particularly striking, housing a collection of beautiful Buddha statues. One of the most unique pieces is a red Buddha statue, carved from what appears to be stone, standing out from the rest with its distinct color and texture. The temple grounds are expansive, offering plenty of areas to explore and discover. The visit is certainly worth the time and effort, with so much to see and appreciate.

Located near the Chang Puak Gate, the temple's location makes it easily accessible. Its three-tiered wooden roof sets it apart from other temples, adding to its unique charm. The temple has a rich history, dating back to the 14th century, and despite its age, it is well-preserved and maintained.

The temple is conveniently situated close to the north gate of the old city. A simple crossing of the roads outside the moat leads to this wonderful site. One of the unique features of this temple is the pagoda with ropes that visitors can pull to send a bamboo carrying water up to the Buddha statue. The temple is open to the public free of charge.

While the temple may not be everyone's favorite, it offers a different perspective compared to other temples. Its colors and structure are unique, and it is not as large as some of the other temples. However, it is an active site, often bustling with Thai families. Visitors may even get a chance to witness monks teaching or a bride and groom having a photo shoot.

The temple is easily accessible, located on a main road on the north side of the moat, west of the Chang Phuak city gate. It is a significant site, commemorating the place where monks from Burma were housed during the Mangrai dynasty. The ashes of several members of the Mengrai dynasty are also placed in this temple. The temple is not usually crowded, making it a peaceful place to visit. The chedi is large and tall, and the Vihan is designed in the Lanna art style. The interior is beautifully decorated with large pillars, intricate carvings, and a meditating Buddha. The temple offers many great photo opportunities, but visitors are advised to come prepared for the hot weather.

This temple is one of the oldest in Chiang Mai, and it exudes a sense of tranquility. Visitors may even get a chance to see young monks going about their daily tasks, such as emptying the alms boxes. The chedi is particularly impressive due to its size. The temple is worth a quick stop for those interested in Thai history and culture.

Situated just outside the old city, this temple is often the first stop for visitors arriving in Chiang Mai. The complex consists of the main temple building designed in the Lanna style, a ruin behind it, and several shrines on the left side. Visitors may wish to interact with the monks for advice, but should be aware that language may be a barrier. Despite this, the temple remains a must-visit for its historical significance and beautiful architecture.
