The temple was founded by Chao Nang Talamae Sri, wife of King Mengrai and daughter of a Burmese King. The temple was a personal temple of Phra Nang Ming Uao Jom Muang, King Meng Rai's mother. The temple houses a beautiful bronze sculpture of King Mengrai and his wife, Queen Devi Usapayako.
