This temple is not your typical Thai temple. It boasts a radical architectural and design style, housing an enormous, abstract Maitreya Buddha statue, believed to be the next Buddha to come. This unique feature adds a touch of mysticism to the temple, making it one of the most intriguing temples in Thailand.

The temple's surroundings are equally captivating. On a clear day, visitors can enjoy the beautiful approach, with clouds touching the hills, creating a surreal and enchanting atmosphere. Interestingly, the temple is frequented more by locals than foreigners, adding to its authentic Thai charm. Besides the main temple, there are two other temples on the site, one of which houses a museum. Food is also readily available at three nearby restaurants, making it a convenient spot for visitors.

The temple is also a great day trip destination from Phitsanulok. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the countryside and marvel at the amazing 5 million mosaic temple. The best part? Entry to the temple is free.

The temple is a must-see when in Khao Kho. The attention to detail, especially for photography angles, is mind-blowing. Ladies visiting the monastery are required to wear at least knee-length skirts, but sarongs are provided for complimentary loan at the venue. The monastery, fitted with 5 million pieces of mosaic and broken tiles, is often compared to the works of Antoni Gaudi, the renowned Spanish architect. Visitors are advised to take their time and explore the beautiful temple for at least 1.5 hours.

The temple is truly stunning and well worth repeat visits. From the Lom-Sak - Phitsanulok road, it may look like just another big white temple stuck on a hill, but up close, it's a different story. The temple is fascinating both in detail and as larger complete buildings, and they offer stupendous views of the breathtaking surrounding countryside. The site is surprisingly large, so visitors should allow a minimum of 2 hours for exploration. However, English language support may be limited. For disabled visitors, it's worth noting that there are no ramps, and there are about 8 steps just after the entrance. The road leading to the temple is a pot-holed country road, adding to the rustic charm of the place.
