About Wat Phayap Temple

Tucked away within the old city walls, there lies a hidden gem of a temple that is sure to captivate any traveler. This serene and impressive place of worship is a must-visit for those seeking a unique cultural experience. The temple is often quiet, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors to explore and appreciate its beauty. One couple found themselves to be the only visitors on a Wednesday afternoon, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the tranquility of the temple.

The main building of the temple houses a stunning gold statue of Lord Buddha, a sight that is sure to leave visitors in awe. However, the temple's charm doesn't stop there. There is a secondary building that is quite unique, decorated entirely with what appears to be crystals and rock formations taken from a cave. This building also houses many stone-carved statues, some of which are missing their heads. These statues are believed to have been unearthed in this condition, adding a layer of mystery and intrigue to the temple.

Despite the lack of refreshments on site, visitors are assured that there are some available nearby. This allows visitors to spend a considerable amount of time exploring the temple and its grounds without worrying about finding a place to eat or drink.

The temple is not only a place for sightseeing but also a place for interaction. One visitor had the chance to chat with a friendly monk during their visit, making the experience even more memorable.

However, the temple's most impressive feature is perhaps its cave. This cave, which is housed inside a building, is made by sticking real stalactites and stalagmites presumably taken from real caves elsewhere. While some may question the ethics of this, there's no denying the cave's beauty and the amount of effort and money that must have gone into its creation. The cave is part of a very new viharn built of beautiful polished pink marble, although its interior is not yet finished.

The temple's grounds are well-kept, and the temple itself is incredible. The monks have built a cave that is unlike anything most visitors have seen before. This cave temple within the temple compound is a sight to behold and is highly recommended for visitors.

Located at a corner in the old city, the temple is about a 10-minute journey from the Ya Mo statue. Its most interesting features are the Buddha in the cave, which is both amazing and mysterious.

In the past, the temple was known for its man-made jewelry cave, a peaceful and calm area where visitors could sit and look around for as long as they wanted. Now, a newly reconstructed Ajanta cave-like structure has been added, providing another calm and serene place for visitors to explore. If you find yourself in Korat, don't forget to visit this temple. It's a place that's sure to leave a lasting impression.
