The first sight of Lao style chedis is a sight to behold. The temple, relatively modern in its design, is a refreshing change from the usual gold leaf extravagance of the Chiang Mai temples. The temple is painted in a welcoming shade of pink, a color that is not commonly associated with temples, making it a unique sight.The temple is home to a number of black Buddhas at the foot of the main stupa. The color of the Buddhas is of no significance and is often simply carved from the locally available black basalt.
