About Wat Tham Sumano

The Sumano caves are a tranquil and serene destination that leaves a lasting impression on its visitors. The caves are a delightful surprise for those taking a break on the Trang/Phattalung route. Visitors often spend around two hours exploring all the caves, which are well-maintained and secure. They serve as a place of worship, with some being vast and others consisting of small corridors.

There are two main sites to explore. The first is located near the main temple, while the second, which is much larger, is found after crossing a suspension bridge. The second site extends into the jungle, where visitors can spot beautiful lianas. The two sites are interconnected, allowing visitors to return to the first site through the caves without having to turn back. Alternatively, there is a road to the left of the small outdoor temple for those who prefer not to retrace their steps through the caves.

Visitors are advised to bring torches to fully enjoy the site. Monkeys can be seen outside the caves, and it is recommended to keep a safe distance from them. The second site is also home to bats, sometimes in large numbers. Visitors are advised not to shine their torches directly at them. The Sumano caves offer a unique blend of natural beauty, tranquility, and spiritual significance, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking a peaceful and enriching travel experience.
