The temple, known as Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, or the Great Monastery of Auspicious Victory, is a historical marvel that leaves visitors in awe. The chedi, one of the largest in Ayutthaya, was built by King Natesuan and is surrounded by a rectangular gallery lined with dozens of stone Buddha images. The sight is truly amazing, a testament to the rich history and culture of the place.

The current name of the monastery was acquired at the end of the 16th century when the large chedi was built. In the northeast, a large statue of the Reclining Buddha wrapped in yellow cloth faces east towards the rising sun. Despite being destroyed during an invasion in 1767, the temple remains a significant site worth visiting.

Visitors can explore the temple even during a short visit. With an entry fee of just 20 baht, one can marvel at the numerous Buddha monuments, climb the steps, and capture beautiful photographs. The temple is home to many Buddha statues, including a magnificent reclining Buddha at ground level.
